Lana Lowe
​Director
Lana is a member of the FNFN, granddaughter to Harry and Adeline Dickie. She holds a bachelor's degree in Geography, a master's in Indigenous Governance and is currently a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria. Lana has been with the department since 2008.

Cynthia Burke
Permits & Referrals Clerk, Culture Support Worker
​Cynthia is a member of FNFN and grand-daughter of Fred and Madeline Burke. Cynthia processes all land-use permit applications in FNFN territory and provides administrative support to the Land Code Development Committee. Cynthia has been working with the department since 2005.

Katherine Wolfenden
Land & Resources Coordinator
Katherine is originally from Hazelton, BC. She holds a Diploma from the College of New Caledonia in Natural Resources and Environmental Technology. Katherine has worked for FNFN since May 2011. Her work has focused on conducting environmental reviews of projects, environmental and construction field audits, and developing monitoring programs. Her role supports the Lands Director in planning and implementing numerous wildlife and monitoring related projects. Katherine has led on the ground implementation of restoration work in the Kotcho Lake Restoration Area, and has implemented other large scale restoration projects in FNFN territory.

Marilyn Norby
Field & Guardian Program Coordinator
Marilyn is of Tahltan ancestry. She has lived in Fort Nelson since 2008. She has 10 years experience in the fisheries field as well as other areas in renewable resources. She has also done a lot of work in the mining industry. This includes being a safety officer and managing various work crews. Marilyn started working with the Lands Department in July 2011.

Nicole Burke
​Front Office Assistant
Nicole is a member of FNFN and is the daughter of Ignace and Ruby Burke. She graduated from Chalo School in 2011. She enjoys exercising her traditional culture out on the family trapline with her family. Nicole has been working with the Lands Department since 2012.

Roberto Concepcion
​GIS Technician
Roberto ("Bobby") is from Cebu City, Philippines. Roberto is a Civil Engineer by profession with extensive experience in Geographic Information Systems, specializing in digital mapping. He also has experience in community development and land use planning, including work with the Canadian International Development Agency. Bobby has been working with the FNFN Lands Department since April 2009.

Madeline Burke
Lands Office Administrator
Madeline is a Dene member of the Fort Nelson First Nation.

She has gained her experience working for the Fort Nelson First Nation over the last 10+ years in the following capacities: Fort Nelson Lands
Reception, Administrative Assistant, Economic Development Assistant and General Manager at Liard Hotsprings Lodge. She is happy to be back
working for the Lands Department overseeing the day-to-day office administration, health and safety and assisting the team with project
planning, organizing, controlling, directing and evaluating.

In 2011, she completed and achieved the Applied Business Technology Certificate, from Northern Lights College. She attended and participated in a 4-week Aboriginal Business Management Program, from the University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business, receiving a certificate.

She enjoys being a mother passing on the teachings she has learned to her daughter and being out on the land camping or visiting other First Nation communities learning her strong Dene roots. Maddie’s Grandparents are Fred and Madeline Burke, and Julie Gairdner.

Casey Caines
Legal Researcher
Casey Caines relationally, as a member of FNFN, is daughter to Eddie Harrold and granddaughter to Rose & Garnet Harrold. She is a third year Juris Doctor candidate at the U of A and is excited to have found her way back to the Nation as a legal researcher. 

Her passion is in the pursuit of reducing systemic inequalities and barriers to access. This has led her to the circles of many community initiatives including as current VP External of ILSA, VP FN of the National ILSA, co-chair of the Impact group at Colleges and Institutes of Canada, and as a board member for the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre. She is also proud to be a co-founder of The Medicine Box Project and Waniska Leadership Retreat which focus on decolonial models of community leadership, care, and knowledge revitalization. It is an honour to have found a home and a family in all of her work.

FNFN Land Guardians

Jordan Turcotte
Jordan is a descendant of the Matois, a Dene/Cree family from Old Fort Nelson, BC. He grew up in Northern BC for 20 years before attending MacEwan University in Edmonton, AB for Business. After completing his Business Management Diploma, Jordan completed an Environmental Technician Certificate with Vancouver Island University as well as a Land Reclamation Certificate with the University of Northern British Columbia.

​This technical training provided Jordan with the opportunity to work in the Environmental Consulting industry in Kitimat, BC at the LNG Canada plant site capturing, identifying, documenting and relocating various coastal mountain fish and amphibian species impacted by the construction of the facility and pipeline. Jordan currently holds a position with his home nation, Fort Nelson First Nation, as a Senior Land Guardian and representative for the ALP.
